Mental Illness in the Minnesota’s Black Community will turn in to millions of dollars for everybody but us. When will we have a chance to invest in the strength of Minnesota’s Black culture versus its wounds?
No, the money is not hitting the streets on Friday, and if it has, not too many people know what it is doing. One thing for sure, we know that DEED is sitting on multi-millions of Minnesota cash and has become the dog-trainer in this thing called grants to cure generational disparities. If you put first-things-first, you’ll realize it is impossible for the same group who created MNSure to assist in a Band Aid for the black community.
Black Minnesotans have been looked at in the eye by local and state political leaders and told that “glory was coming from that-there mountain top” to save the cold Negro of Minnesota and his counterparts that make up the lower one-third of the community. However, when “glory fell,” it did not touch the treetops of black Minnesotans in need of a reset for high expectations.
Community engagement does not mean asking the same group about another group because one might not have a connection. On the streets it’s called “Street Cred” – you might look like me, but you do not know me.
The challenge the mainstream media has with the spreading of anti-Trump propaganda is that the lower one-third of the black community does not read their news via the websites, nor do black Minnesotans pick up a Star Tribune (Minn. local paper). Each of these outlets depend on pluralistic ignorance, or the message of anti-Trump passed down in conversations by people who might have seen a headline but never clicked on a link or read the story but do not have the critical lens in which to process liberal propaganda targeted to the black community and its members.
